The Solea® All-Tissue Laser's latest application for mineral loss reduction will be on display at the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research/Canadian Association for Dental Research Annual Meeting taking place March 15-18, 2023 in Portland, Oregon.

WALTHAM, Mass., March 9, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Convergent Dental Inc., the power behind The Solea® All-Tissue Dental Laser, will present data on carbonate removal for caries (cavity) prevention using Solea® at the 2023 American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research/Canadian Association for Dental Research (AADOCR/CADR) Annual Meeting. Solea® is the first and only laser cleared to aid in the reduction of mineral loss in dental enamel, helping to protect teeth against the effects of acid attack and resulting caries development.

"We are thrilled the AADOCR and CADR selected our caries prevention research for an interactive talk at this year's meeting. The data further supports our new mineral loss reduction treatment, which has the potential to benefit nearly every dental patient, and especially those at high risk for cavities. This treatment is a great example of Convergent Dental's commitment to expanding the functionality and capability of the Solea® laser platform," said Robert L. Gershon, CEO of Convergent Dental.

Convergent's new application, Solea® Protect™, helps to inhibit caries development by gently heating the surface of tooth enamel, resulting in the removal of carbonate impurities within hydroxyapatite. This process results in a stronger, crystal-like structure that is more resistant to decay, especially when used in combination with fluoride. While decades of research support the concept that the structure of dental enamel can be altered using low-level laser energy, the latest in-vitro laboratory studies show that Solea® can safely and efficiently remove nearly 50% of carbonate from enamel surfaces.

The interactive talk, "Carbonate Removal in Dental Enamel with 9.3-µm CO2 Laser Treatment," will be presented by Vijay Ramareddy, PhD, Senior Research and Development Engineer at Convergent Dental on March 15, 2023 at 2:20pm.

Solea® Protect™ is commercially available on a limited basis and will be fully available later this year.
