VAN BUREN - A woman was found dead in a fire at an apartment complex Friday morning, officials reported.

About 9:30 a.m., firefighters went to the Pavilion Apartments, 20 S. 21st Street in Van Buren, where smoked poured from one apartment, said Fire Marshal Stanley Clark.

The fire was contained to one bedroom inside the apartment where the woman was found, Clark said.

The fire appears to be accidental, and there was no foul play suspected Friday, he said.

A few of the apartments next to the one damaged by fire sustained some smoke damage, but most of the smoke was cleared with ventilation, Clark said.

A cause of the fire had not been determined Friday afternoon. The name of the woman was not released pending notification of relatives.
