A 30-year-old Little Rock man is being charged with capital murder after his 6-week-old infant son died Sunday following injuries consistent with "violent shaking."

According to Little Rock police, Demetrick Green Jr. was arrested in connection to the infant's death based off the findings of the medical examiner.

Police said they were first notified of the injuries caused to the child after staff at Arkansas Children's Hospital notified them Friday afternoon.

At the time, police said Green was charged with first-degree battery after the infant sustained injuries consistent with trauma before dying two days later.

The boy's body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy, police said.
