Cincinnati weather: Severe threat moves out, strong winds continue to push through
YEAH, HE WAS IN BAD SHAPE. ASHLEY: INVESTIGATORS SAY EXCESSIVE SPEED MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR IN THE CRASH. ANY WITNESSES TO THE CRASH ARE ASKED TO CONTACT CINCINNATI POLICE. WHAT IS NEXT, KEVIN? KEVIN: THOSE WINDS ARE GOING TO SETTLE DOWN TONIGHT AS WE SLEEP AND WE ARE ACTUALLY HEADING INTO A PRETTY NICE WEEKEND. OUT THE ACTION THIS EVENING, AFTER THAT, IT WILL SETTLE DOWN FOR THE REST OF YOUR WEEKEND. RADAR IS SHOWN THAT THINGS ARE A LOT QUIETER, AT LEAST FROM WHAT’S FALLING OUT OF THE SKY. WE HAVE A FEW SPRINKLES, A LITTLE MISTY SHOWER OR TWO TOWARDS PARTS OF HIGHLAND AND ADAMS COUNTY. THAT’S REALLY IT. THESE MISTY SHOWERS ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF HERE PRETTY QUICKLY. HERE’S A LOOK AT A RECORD-SETTING STORM. THE LOWEST PRESSURE RECORDED IN THE LOUISVILLE AREA OCCURRED TODAY. I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT THIS BIG STORM. LOOK AT THIS SPIN THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY. YOU CAN SEE THAT SPIN BASICALLY RIGHT THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY. THIS STORM CENTER RECORD-SETTING BECAUSE IN ESSENCE, I OFTEN TIMES REFERRED TO IT AS A BIG BOWL IN OUR ATMOSPHERE -- A BIG HOLE IN OUR ATMOSPHERE. SET THE RECORD IN THE LOUISVILLE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. THOSE WINDS ARE HOWLING OUT THERE TONIGHT. BECAUSE AGAIN, WITH THAT BIG HOLE IN THE ATMOSPHERE, THOSE WINDS RUSH IN AT EXTREMELY FAST SPEEDS TO FILL THAT SPACE. THAT’S WHY IT’S SO WINDY TODAY AS THE STORM IS PULLING AWAY. THOSE WINDS WILL GRADUALLY BEGIN TO SUBSIDE. IMPRESSIVE WINS. THE STRONGEST WINDS OF THE DAY HAVE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SEVERE WEATHER. JUST AN EXTREMELY INTENSE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. ALMOST A HURRICANE FORCE IN MAYSVILLE. 71 MILE AN HOUR GUSTS, CLOSE TO 70 IN WILMINGTON AND OLIN DID. LUNKEN AIRPORT -- JOE WINTON. LUMPKIN -- OH WHEN TODD -- OWENTON. THE WIND GUSTS ARE STILL IN THE 40 TO 50 MILE PER HOUR RANGE AS WE SPEAK. HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS TO MIDNIGHT. THEY WILL DROP UNDER 40 EVENTUALLY, COME :00 A.M., TWO :00 A.M., MORE WIND GUSTS. BY THE MORNING, THOSE WINDS SHOULD HAVE SUBSIDED. HERE IS A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI. 38 HERE, SUSTAINED WINDS OUT OF THE WEST AT 25. AS THAT STORM CENTER PULLS AWAY, HERE’S THE 40’S. NOTICE THOSE 30’S ARE QUICKLY BEGINNING TO PULL THEIR WEIGHT IN AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES OFF. 12 HOUR FORECAST LOOKS LIKE THIS. WE WILL DROP DOWN TO AROUND 40 BEEN KIND OF A HAVE HER IN THE UPPER 30’S -- KIND OF HOVER IN THE UPPER 30’S. CLOUDY OVERNIGHT. PROBABLY SOME CLOUDS TO START TOMORROW BUT THEN WE SHOULD WORK OUR WAY INTO SUNSHINE BY AFTERNOON. THE REST OF THE WEEKEND IS ACTUALLY PRETTY NICE. 36 BY MORNING, RAIN ENDS, WINDY AND CHILLY OUTSIDE. WE SHOULD TOP OUT AT ABOUT 53 TO 56 FOR A HIGHER IN THE AFTERNOON. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. 53 SATURDAY. CLOSER TO 60 BY SUNDAY. IT LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER WARM UP EARLY NEXT WEEK AS TEMPERATURES JUMP INTO THE 70’S AGAIN FOR US. THE WEATHER PATTERN FINAL LOOKS LIKE IT’S ABOUT TO BREAK DOWN AND CHANGE GOING INTO A NEXT WEEK. UNFORTUNATEL
