The coaching turnover continues for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks this offseason.

Oregon assistant quarterbacks coach Jordan Somerville will join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching staff, a source confirmed to Ducks Digest. The move was first reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Somerville was hired by Dan Lanning to help coach quarterbacks in January 2022. He worked with former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kenny Dillingham and played a role in helping Bo Nix emerge as one of the best passers in the country after transferring in from Auburn.

Prior to coaching the Ducks Somerville was the running backs coach at New Mexico during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. While with the Lobos he also served as the recruiting coordinator.

His abilities on the recruiting trail were put to good use in Eugene, where he not only helped Dillingham recruit the quarterback position but also his home state of Arizona. With Somerville on staff the Ducks signed three 2023 recruits from Arizona in Basha cornerback Cole Martin (enrolled), Liberty defensive tackle My'Keil Gardner (enrolled) and Chandler defensive tackle A'mauri Washington (signed).

Somerville isn't the only coach to depart Eugene for the NFL this offseason as offensive line coach Adrian Klemm returned to coach for Bill Belichick on the New England Patriots, the team that selected him in the 2000 NFL Draft.

New offensive coordinator Will Stein is the team's main quarterbacks coach for the time being, and he'll help develop Nix along with Ty Thompson and 2023 signee Austin Novosad, who flipped from Baylor to Oregon during the early signing period and is enrolled in classes in Eugene.

Lanning hired Antonio Parks earlier this month to join his coaching staff as an offensive analyst.
