Basically, the reflector that opens the gate is stuck, and the only way to release it is by going down into the basement, the Magnetic Shok Absorption Chamber. How to Repair Mirror Mechanism in A Glass, Darkly Quest
To fix the mirror mechanism, jump down the tunnel to the gate’s left, cross the four magnetic rooms using the Shok ability, and solve the four relay puzzles in the basement. A new mechanic is introduced in A Glass, Darkly quest: Mobile Electromagnet Clusters. These are battery-looking objects on the ceiling with positive and negative (red and blue) flanks. Using EMP on these clusters moves container-like platforms on the ground, helping cross the obstacles.

Magnetic Room Puzzle Solution
The quest has four magnetic rooms, which gradually become more complicated. But they all follow the same logic: Ascend or descend the containers to cross to the other side.
For the first three rooms, stand on the lowest platform, Shok the ceiling, and jump on the next approachable one. In the last room, however, take advantage of non-magnetic areas. When stuck, stand on the walls or stairways and Shok the ceiling to find the right path.
The magnetic rooms work with common sense knowledge about magnets: Opposite polarities attract, matching polarities push away. To descend a platform, match its color to the ceiling clusters. And do the opposite to ascend it.
Mirror Mechanism Relay Puzzle Solution
A Glass, Darkly mission has four doors with no locks. To open them, solve the relay puzzles on the ground or in the walls. Here’s how to tackle each:
Relay Puzzle #1: Top middle circle, bottom middle circle, bottom left circle, top left circle.
Relay Puzzle #2: Top right circle, bottom right circle.
Relay Puzzle #3: Top third circle (from left), Down second circle (from left), top far right circle.
Relay Puzzle #4: Top far left, top third (from left), top far left.
Finally, take the exit door to the surface and interact with the gate lock, so the mirror mechanism shows up and the path to VDNH unlocks.
