Springfield shooting leaves man with serious injuries

SPRINGFIELD — A man was seriously injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in the Forest Park section of the city.

The shooting took place at about 4:05 p.m. near 100 Belmont Ave., said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman.

When police responded to reports of gunshots, they located the victim who had serious injuries. He was brought to Baystate Medical Center for treatment, he said.

Springfield Police remained on the scene of the shooting. The crime is being investigated by the department’s Detective Bureau, Walsh said.
