CT officers celebrate with daughter of fallen Bristol lieutenant on her 4th birthday

The daughter of fallen Bristol Lt. Dustin DeMonte had a few extra party guests to celebrate her 4th birthday this year.

Officers from the Hamden Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Yale Police Department and North Haven Police Department made the special visit to celebrate with Phoebe and the DeMonte family on Sunday, according to Hamden police.

DeMonte, 35, of North Haven, was killed in the line of duty along with Sgt. Alex Hamzy, 34, on Oct. 12, 2022, while responding to an allegedly phony domestic violence call. A third officer, Alec Iurato, was seriously wounded in the shooting. DeMonte had three children with his wife Laura, who recently gave birth to their youngest, Penelope Dustin-Ann DeMonte, on March 6. They also have a son, Porter.

Several emotional support dogs also joined the visit, including K9 Bear, K9 Heidi and K9 Frankie, who provided kisses and hugs.

Amy Hodder, owner of Amy Cakes LLC in Wallingford, donated the cake to the family. Hodder’s grandfather, Milton Hodder, was killed in the line of duty in Hamden on April 22, 1943, according to Hamden police.
