Books are in hand and Chef Charlie Abowd is ready to meet, greet and sign copies, Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Nashville Social Club, Carson City. The gathering takes place in The Swan Room. Doors open at 1:30.
The author of the long-awaited "Recipes and Rambles that made Adele's a Nevada hot spot: 40 years of history as told by Chef Charlie Abowd," is ecstatic to have seen this project through.

"I really haven't been able to wrap my mind around this," Abowd said. "This is a surreal moment in my life.

"I always thought a lot about the recipes I would like to immortalize for our family and friends of Adele's, and this was my way of walking down the path of doing bucket list things as I got older; this is a bucket list moment."

Nashville Social Club's Chef Tony Schaffer and Abowd have collaborated to re-create dishes from the book recipes to be served as bites. There will be a no-host wine and beer bar.

"I have enjoyed working with Tony on this project,” Abowd said. “He's growing into becoming a great chef, and it is an honor to work with him.”

The afternoon features an interview and Q & A with Abowd, who will then sign books. There are a limited quantity of books for this first event, but the Amazon pre-order link is live to reserve your copy for the next release.

"There are going to be other events moving forward, so those who order online can find me at any of the upcoming events, and I will sign their copies," Abowd said.

So far, events are planned at Piazza, Sierra Chef and at one of Reno Local Food Group's properties. Artsy Fartsy Gallery and owner Jeffery Pace, hosts a signing with a garden party theme, June 10, tentatively from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Karen and I felt it was important to do the launch at John (Procaccini) and Kitty's (McKay) place (Nashville Social) for a couple reasons," Abowd said. "They have worked hand-in-hand with us for the concerts at Adele's and The Greenhouse Project and have been there many times in our lives when we needed personal support to place their hands on our shoulders."

Procaccini, who features prominently in the book, given his background in all facets of the music industry and the relationship that has grown over time.

"We are thrilled to be part of Charlie's new chapter following the first 35 years of friendship, great food and great music."

All proceeds from books sales after publishing expenses will go to The Greenhouse Project's Growing It Forward sustainability program, to ensure continuation of the organization's mission of "Growing, giving, and teaching for a healthier, greener, sustainable community."

Nashville Social Club is located at 1105 S. Carson St., Carson City.
