In a pair of tweets shared on Saturday (March 18), Lil Nas X responded to trolls who accused him of faking his sexuality.

The “Industry Baby” rapper, who came out as gay in June 2019 following the success of his breakthrough single “Old Town Road,” retweeted someone who accused him of “finess[ing] the LGBT community” for profit. “One day we will realize that Lil Nas X is not gay,” they wrote.

“Do I have to give head at 3:45 a.m. behind a McDonald’s in Chicago on a Friday night during the middle of pride month while streaming on Twitch and IG live for y’all to realize I am really a fruitcake,” the rapper responded.

He shared another tweet that showed someone commenting on a recent performance he gave at Lollapalooza Chile. “I feel like he’s not really gay or not really that feminine it’s so forced,” they wrote, to which Lil Nas X replied, “Oh no guys it’s the estrogen expert.”

The second tweet garnered attention over the weekend after fans noticed Saweetie appeared to like it. “He was lookin fine af that’s why I liked the video I didn’t see the shadiness,” she wrote, while adding that she has since unliked the post. Lil Nas X shared his love in the replies by sharing two heart emojis.

Earlier this month, Lil Nas X garnered criticism after he appeared to joke about transitioning. “The surgery was successful,” the 23-year-old wrote alongside an image of a woman he later shouted out as IG user @glowprincess. He was asked by a fan why he made “transitioning a punchline,” and he replied, “I’m literally just saying she looks like me y’all cannot be fuckin serious.” He later apologized to the trans community, and admitted he handled the situation “with anger instead of considering why it was not cool.”
