Join us Wednesday for a virtual live Q&A session about recycling in Raleigh

Join recycling experts in Raleigh and Wake County Wednesday at 1 p.m. for a live, virtual Q&A event.

Our “Recycling Right” event will have experts answer readers’ questions about recycling household materials in Raleigh.

The News & Observer published a series of stories last week about recycling in Raleigh, showing readers how recycling in the City of Oaks works.

We tracked the journey of a plastic bottle throughout North Carolina, seeing how the plastic gets melted and extruded into yarn. We went to Raleigh’s recycling plant to see machine and human sorters separate aluminum from cardboard and paper from plastic. We visited Wake County’s convenience centers and hazardous waste sites to learn how to dispose of those tricky-to-recycle items, like electronics, light bulbs and batteries.

The N&O’s Kimberly Cataudella, who reported the Raleigh recycling series, will be joined by Bianca Howard and Maine Johnson, communications officers for Wake County and the City of Raleigh’s solid waste departments, respectively.

Bring your questions and learn more about how to recycle through your curbside bins, county-wide drop-off points and private organizations.

Join the event and ask your questions in real time, or send questions in advance to ask@newsobserver.com.
