Will Netflix answer calls for The Night Agent Season 2? That will be the question on fans’ minds after the political conspiracy thriller’s action-packed Season 1 finale.

Created by Shawn Ryan and adapted from Matthew Quirk’s 2019 novel, The Night Agent follows low-level FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) on a quest to save the United States from White House-level corruption.

If you’ve raced through The Night Agent‘s first 10 episodes, you’ll likely be left wanting more. But is The Night Agent Season 2 a go at Netflix? Read on to learn everything we know about The Night Agent’s renewal status, the future of the series, and potential Season 2 storylines. Just be mindful that spoilers for The Night Agent Season 1 are ahead.

Will The Night Agent Season 2 Be On Netflix? The Night Agent Renewal Status:

As of March 24, a day after The Night Agent‘s first 10 episodes dropped on Netflix, the series had yet to be renewed or canceled. But on March 29, Sony Pictures Television announced via Twitter that The Night Agent accepted its next mission and would be returning for a Season 2 in 2024.

Considering the success of Ryan’s past shows like The ShieldS.W.A.T, and Timeless, plus the Season 2 renewal of a similar original series, The Recruit, we’re not surprised we’ll be seeing more of Peter Sutherland. The final moments of Season 1 also perfect teed up another story, so there’s a lot of room to expand should the series return. And The Night Agent recently became Netflix’s most watched show of 2023 so far with 168.71 million hours viewed.

What Could Happen in The Night Agent Season 2?

In The Night Agent Season 2, the student will become the master when we watch Sutherland give up night action phone duty to work in the field as a night agent. (He’s the night agent, as far as we’re concerned.) When we last saw Sutherland he had just kissed Larkin goodbye and boarded a U.S. Air Force plane to his first mission. Once onboard, he unlocked his tablet and prepared to read his top secret Night Action Mission Brief. We’re still unsure where Sutherland is headed or what he’ll be doing once he arrives at his destination, so Season 2 would fill us in on those details and show him in full night agent mode.

We’d also ideally follow Larkin, who now has bangs and once said she wanted to go back to California and create a new company if she and Sutherland made it out of their bind alive. We’ll likely check back in with the White House and president, and hopefully see more of Agent Arrington in her new role on POTUS’s security detail. There’s potential to check in with Maddie, who gave up Secret Service protection to live a more normal life and dreams of studying abroad. And we may also see Gordon Wick (who ended Season 1 on the run) and watch Diane Farr and the VP face repercussions for their actions.

Season 1 of The Night Agent is currently streaming on Netflix.
