Many of Merseyside's roads have undergone big changes over the decades, from the carriageways themselves to the buildings that line them.

Our archives, Mirrorpix, recently rediscovered these images from the 1960s and 1970s showing various roads across the region that are a window into the past.

From scenes on our streets to aerial shots above Merseyside, you can see everything from the old Scottie Road to flyovers, bridges and more.

Other images also show roads and tunnels in the city as they looked frozen in a point in time. And while not all of them were 'new' at the time, they are a glimpse into our past and show how Merseyside has changed through the decades.
