Jacksonville restaurants make list of Yelp's Top 100 Florida Restaurants list for 2023

Four Northeast Florida restaurants — two in Jacksonville and one each in St. Augustine and Fernandina Beach — made the list of Yelp.com users' 100 favorites in Florida that was released this week.

Yelp is an online service that allows patrons to leave reviews and ratings of restaurants. The service used the volume and rating of reviews as a basis for its list.

Wicked Bao, which serves Asian street food in Fernandina Beach, finished at No. 26 on the list; Mesa in Jacksonville was No. 38, Masala Mantra Indian Bistro in Jacksonville was No. 46 and St. Augustine's Brisky's BBQ was No. 87.

Pla-Tu Sushi, Thai, Tapas in South Miami finished first on the list. Others in the top 10 of the list are Tikka Indian Cuisine in Venice, Prosecco22 in Pembroke Pines, JAM Hot Chicken in Winter Park, North South Grill in Pembroke Pines, Gilbert's 17th St. Grill in Fort Lauderdale, Pane & Vino La Trattoria in Miami Beach, Fratellino Ristorante in Coral Gables, India Grill & Bar in West Palm Beach and Chicken Fire in Orlando. Eight of the top 10 on the list were in South Florida.

The top 10 on the list are almost entirely different from the 2022 list of Florida's best restaurants, the first that Yelp produced. Fratellino Ristorante in Coral Gables is the only restaurant to make the top 10 both years; it was No. 1 in '22, No. 8 this year.

The Chicken Capricciosa entree at Catullo's Italian is a melty tower of pan-fried chicken breast, fried eggplant, prosciutto and marinara, topped with a fresh dollop of torch-melted mozzarella, accompanied by egg pappardelle noodles tossed in marinara. The restaurant was No. 10 on Yelp's list of the 100 best Florida restaurants in 2022, but didn't make the list this year.

Catullo's Italian in Jacksonville was No. 10 on last year's list but didn't make the top 100 this year. The four Northeast Florida restaurants on this year's list are nowhere to be found on last year's and, other than Catullo's, the three area restaurants that made last year's list (Hana Moon Sushi, Balkan Cafe and Sweet Sushi & Grill) were absent from this year's.
