Yelp’s ‘Top 100 Places to Eat in Florida’ highlights 6 Palm Beach County restaurants

A mixed batch of Palm Beach County restaurants are among Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in Florida”.  The crowd-sourced review site spotlights a half-dozen local restaurants on its second annual list, which was released Tuesday.

The newly released “Top 100” list puts a Royal Palm Beach Yelper favorite in this year’s top 10, well above the other local restaurants. India Grill and Bar is listed at number 9. The 10-year-old restaurant and banquet hall serves traditional regional Indian dishes, including tandoori meats, curries, a variety of naans and a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options.

The restaurant’s lamb dishes proved to be popular with Yelpers, who raved about the “perfectly seasoned” lamb rogan josh and the lamb korma, described as “creamy and delicious”.

“We will be making a 45-minute drive to this restaurant when we want Indian food. It’s that good!” wrote Deerfield Beach Yelper Megan H.

Jupiter’s Dune Dog Café, a funky destination for comfort favorites such as the foot-long Junkyard Dog (topped with chili, cheese, diced onions and special tomato sauce), landed at number 79 on the Yelp list. The iconic roadside restaurant with the beachy Florida decor is nearly 30 years old.

“Love the food, the service is always quick and the divey vibe really forces you to relax. Love us some DD!” wrote Sireesha R. of Jupiter in her March 24 Yelp review.

Also in Jupiter, Leftovers Café came in at number 90 on the Florida list. Part of the Little Moir’s family of restaurants, which includes Food Shack, Leftovers wowed Yelper Robert C. of Margate.

“OMG what a meal. The food, service & ambiance are just off the wall incredible,” he wrote in his March 25 review post.

And at number 97 on the list, Delray Beach mainstay Dada, no stranger to Yelp lists. Operating out of a historic, 1920s-era house, the eclectically set restaurant made Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.” list last year and the site’s national “Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants” in 2019.

So which restaurant was named number 1 on the “Top 100 Places to Eat in Florida” list? The honor goes to Pla-Tu, a 19-month-old sushi, Thai and tapas restaurant in South Miami.

“This neighborhood gem has won over South Miami residents with inventive Southeast Asian cuisine served in a sleek, colorful space,” says the “Top 100” list report.

Last year’s inaugural list named eight Palm Beach County restaurants, none of them included on this year’s list.

If you’re wondering how Yelp came up with the list, the site says the Florida favorites are “based on our community’s ratings and reviews.”

The site describes the methodology this way: “We identified businesses in the restaurants category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of January 9, 2023.”
