Here are the top three stories in Nashville today:

  1. Three children and three adults were killed in a shooting at a private Nashville school on Monday. The shooter, identified by authorities as 28-year-old Audrey Hale of Nashville, was heavily armed upon entering The Covenant School and opened fire. Hale was fatally shot by police who responded to the call. Authorities identified the victims as three 9-year-old students, Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, head of school Katherine Koonce, 60; substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61; and custodian Mike Hill, 61.   2. Metro police are investigating an assault that left an individual seriously injured in East Nashville early Monday morning. The incident was reported just after 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Second Street and Cleveland Street. According to officers at the scene, the victim was critically assaulted and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A suspect has not been identified as of Monday. (WKRN News 2)
  3. The Friends & Fashion Fundraiser hosted by Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital returns to the Music City Center on Apr. 3. The event includes shopping opportunities, a silent auction, a luncheon, and a runway show to raise funds for the hospital. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet designer Sam Edelman. Proceeds from ticket sales support programs for Monroe Carell patients and their families. (Nashville Lifestyles)
