University of Tennessee athletic director Danny White is one of six finalists for the Sports Business Journal Athletic Director of the Year Award, SBJ announced Monday.

Other finalists include Josh Brooks from Georgia, Troy Dannen from Tulane, Heather Lyke from Pittsburgh, Jamie Pollard from Iowa State, and JD Wicker from San Diego State.

If White wins, he would become the fifth SEC athletic director in the last decade to claim the award, joining former Arkansas ADs Mal Moore and Jeff Long, who won in 2013 and 2015, respectively; Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart, who won in 2019; and Florida's Scott Stricklin, who won in 2020.

White was hired at Tennessee in January 2021, overseeing the hiring of Josh Heupel as head football coach. Prior to his time with the Volunteers, he served as the athletic director at Central Florida, starting in November 2015.
