FANS of Come Dine With Me could not stop laughing as a clip from a classic episode resurfaced that appeared to show a huge editing error.

The Channel 4 show has proved a hit with viewers for nearly 20 years and has provided fans with numerous hilarious antics over the years from disgusting food to some rather unfortunate on-camera accidents.

However, an unearthed clip appears to show a glaring blunder in the edit process and it has left fans in stitches.

In the scene, Charlotte, one of that week's diners, is seen arriving at the host's property where she is seen knocking on the door to signal her arrival.

It appears to be light outside as is often the case with the diners usually arriving in the late afternoon ahead of an evening of food, fun and filming.

In the clip, the camera moves to the inside of the property to see the host opening the door to let her in.

As they greet each other, the sky outside appears to be pitch black.

This led to one fan comically quipping: "Bl**dy hell how long was she knocking for," over the top of the video.

Fans took to the comments section of the TikTok clip to weigh in on the blunder and give their opinion.

One social media user said: "I mean knowing the UK in winter it could've been 2 minutes!"

Another mimicked what they thought Come Dine With Me bosses did in the scenario, adding: “We forgot to record you knocking so let’s go record it in the morning.”

A third also put the blame on the English daylight saving time as they wrote: "England in a nutshell."

As a fourth said: "She wad [sic] out there since 9:00am to 21:00pm."
