Auburn freshman guard Chance Westry announces plans to enter the transfer portal
The Tigers just lost two players to the portal in less than ten minutes.
Chance Westry, a former four-star guard, has announced he is entering the transfer portal, per Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.
Westry redshirted during his freshman year with the Tigers after undergoing a knee surgery just weeks before the beginning of the season.
“It’s like my mind’s there,” Westry told Tom Green of AL.com before the NCAA tournament. “My mind wants to be like, ‘Oh, I can go out there and play,’ but then my body is responding like, ‘You need to be a little bit patient,’ you know, just take some time off so I can get back to my old self.”
He appeared in 11 games, averaging 2.5 points, 1.0 assists, and 0.4 rebounds on 31.6% shooting. Westry shot 0 of 14 from beyond the arc and 12 of 24 from inside. He also went 3 of 7 from the foul line.
Westry held high school offers from Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Syracuse, USC, and Penn State, among others.
Auburn has now lost two scholarship players in the last ten minutes on Tuesday afternoon, with fellow freshman Yohan Traore entering the portal alongside Westry.
