Two Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Cobalt Way

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (January 27, 2023) – Sunday evening, a pedestrian crash near Cobalt Way killed Kimberli Michele Washington and one other. The incident occurred on January 22nd, at around 7:45 p.m., near the intersection of Auburn Boulevard and Cobalt Way. According to reports, a speeding driver struck the pedestrian. The vehicle then swerved off the opposite lane and crashed head-on with another vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the second vehicle to crash into the brick barrier of a neighborhood facing Auburn Boulevard. First responders found the pedestrian lying on the road and declared them dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medics took the two drivers to a nearby hospital. Officials later confirmed that the second vehicle’s driver died, while the driver who struck the pedestrian suffered minor to moderate injuries. The coroner’s office later identified one of the deceased as 41-year-old Kimberli Michele Washington. Although, it is currently unclear whether she was the driver or the pedestrian who died.
