Schlumberger opens computer lab

Schlumberger, the leading oilfield Services Company, and Aramco Gulf Operations Company (AGOC), one of Saudi Arabia’s leading oil companies, have this week opened a computer lab and launched the SEED program in Al Khafji.

SEED, stands for Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development, is located within the Al Khafji Boys High School, one of the oldest schools in the Kingdom. SEED is a state-of-the-art E-learning facility, will enable as many as 500 Al Khafji students to tap into the expertise of 270 leading Schlumberger scientists around the world while working on science projects, as well as sharing experiences and collaborate with many of 16,000 students who use similar Schlumberger ‘SEED’  school science centers in 31 other countries.

Hardware equipments and other necessary items were put in place by AGOC, while Schlumberger will provide maintenance and connectivity to run the lab for the next four years.

About Aramco Gulf Operations Company (AGOC)

After the termination of the Arabian Oil Company concession agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on February 27, 2000, AGOC commenced its activities on February 28, 2000, taking over the Saudi Government share of oil production and other products in the divided zone comprising four oil fields: Khafji, Hout, Lulu and Dorra. AGOC is incorporated as a 100% subsidiary of the Kingdom’s national oil company Saudi Aramco and operates as an independent entity with its own Board of Directors responsible to Saudi Aramco as shareholder.
