Telangana Govt takes several initiatives in Solid Waste Management: Arvind Kumar

Hyderabad, May 28 (UNI) Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA & UD) and Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the Telangana state government in the field of Solid Waste Management (SWM), including plastic waste.
Speaking at the inauguration of a workshop on "Innovative and Cost-Effective Solid Waste Management Practices and Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2016," held as part of the World Environment Day Celebrations 2023, Arvind mentioned that Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs) were being installed in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), with 68 cities already completing the installation. Telangana is one of the two states, along with Odisha, implementing FSTPs.
Arvind commended the efforts of Municipal Commissioners in managing solid waste and expressed hope that the workshop's outcomes would further enhance the capabilities of municipalities in finding cost-effective solutions for SWM.
