Our individual humanity defines the way we carry our experiences, wisdom, and perspectives. Uncovering these stories leads to a deeper understanding of our world and of each other.

A way to begin is to simply ask questions. In my work as a dialogue facilitator, I prompt groups with questions such as: “What is your favorite holiday and why?” or “Share something I can’t tell by simply looking at you.” Dialogue participants learn powerful truths of the other through the revelations that follow. They often report that at first, they were fearful of differences; in the end they were bonded by commonalities.

Our stories increase understanding of perceived differences, which then challenge the assumptions we hold of one another. This is the important work of our day. As we learn about one another we become united in our humanity. Moreover, to think- it all begins with a question. Share your story is may change a life.
