ATLANTA — Additional body camera footage released Thursday shows Atlanta police's initial response to the May 3 shooting at a Northside Hospital medical facility, where a woman died and four women were injured.

The APD's release of the new footage comes two days after Cobb County police released surveillance and bodycam footage of the suspect's arrest.

After an hourslong manhunt that began in Midtown on West Peachtree Street, 24-year-old Deion Patterson was tracked to Cobb County with the use of Georgia Department of Transportation cameras and was arrested around 8 p.m. He remained Thursday in the Fulton County Jail on suspicion of one count of murder and four counts of aggravated assault, according to jail records.

In the bodycam video from the APD, which is 4 minutes, 24 seconds, officers can be seen arriving at the Northside facility with some being guided to an elevator and others making their way up a staircase. Once up the stairs, an officer lightly taps on a door before the group of officers decides to open it and enter a hallway. They are seen doing a check in a nearby restroom, which is clear.

The video transitions to inside a medical office, where the officers are seen helping people evacuate. One officer is heard asking, "Did you see which way he went?" The people are then seen running toward the officers. Officers check work spaces and patient rooms, all seemingly empty.

Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer previously said GDOT cameras helped lead police to a vacant building that was under construction near Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta, where Patterson was eventually apprehended.

Shooting in Midtown

The shooting took place in the 11th floor waiting room at Northside's Midtown facility, where police said Patterson had an appointment.

Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr. said officers were dispatched to the scene after the first victim was shot shortly before noon.

One of the victims, 39-year-old Amy St. Pierre, died at the scene and four other women between the ages of 25 and 71 were taken to the hospital, police said. Two of the women were employees at Northside's Laureate Medical Group.

All four women have since been released from Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta News First reported.

Atlanta police said a carjacking took place shortly after the shooting at the Northside Hospital medical facility and said the car was believed to have been recovered in Cobb County.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum previously said police believe the suspect fled the scene after carjacking a vehicle nearby.

The families of the five women are being supported by an onsite spiritual health team and the Northside Hospital Foundation. A fund through the foundation has been established to offer support, Northside said in a past news release.
