Original story

Colorado state troopers are searching for a dark red or maroon pickup that they say caused a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 287 just south of the Larimer County/Boulder County line.

The crash, which occurred about 5 p.m. Friday, killed multiple people in one of four involved vehicles and sent the driver of another vehicle to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland with serious injury.

Colorado State Patrol in a Saturday release said troopers suspect the truck they're looking for and a Chevrolet Camaro were involved in a road-rage argument prior to the crash. Troopers said video from the scene shows the pickup driving into the left side of the Camaro, spinning it into oncoming traffic from southbound U.S. 287.

The Camaro entered the northbound lanes and was struck on its passenger side by a Toyota Tundra. Troopers said an unspecified number of occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Tundra was hospitalized following the crash.

The maroon pickup left the scene before first-responders could arrive. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call CSP dispatch at 303-239-4501. Additional details about the crash were not immediately available Saturday morning.
