If you’re heading to Gulf Shores for the Hangout Music Fest, or if you’re planning a visit later in the year, Southern Living has provided a little guidance on where to eat.
In a new article titled “The Best Places To Eat In Gulf Shores, Alabama,” the folks at www.southernliving.com narrow it down to nine venues. “Whether you’re looking for a place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner,” they boldly proclaim, “there’s sure to be a restaurant on this list that’s serving up exactly what you’re looking for.”
Naturally, some of the city’s biggest, beachiest businesses get the nod, starting with Bahama Bob’s Beachside Café; Tacky Jack’s; The Hangout itself, and sister business The Sunliner Diner; the Original Oyster House; and LuLu’s, the flagship restaurant of Jimmy Buffett’s sister Lucy Buffett. LuLu’s gets a special nod for its “wide variety of allergy-friendly dishes—including options that are dairy free, egg free, gluten free, shellfish free, soy free, seafood free, and sesame and nut free.” And for its Hot Fun Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.
Another high-profile pick: Perch, located in The Lodge at Gulf State Park, with “a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the sun setting over the Gulf” as well as “an elevated menu” and daily specials from Executive Chef James Balster that capitalize on fresh local and regional ingredients.
Rounding things out are local favorites Mikee’s Seafood Restaurant and DeSoto’s Seafood Kitchen.
