Multiple people injured in Tuesday evening crash

May 10—A two-vehicle crash left multiple people injured Tuesday evening, May 9.

At approximately 8:21 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received numerous calls about an accident at County Road 400 South and State Road 29.

A preliminary investigation by Deputy Michael Thomison found that Lily Kochell, 24, of Logansport, had been driving a 2015 Dodge Dart eastbound on County Road 400 South at State Road 29 when she failed to yield the right of way to a southbound 2004 Saturn Ion driven by Amanda Janeway, 37, of Logansport.

Kochell was flown by a medical helicopter to a trauma center in Fort Wayne with serious injuries. A three-year-old juvenile passenger traveling with Kochell was transported by ambulance to Logansport Memorial Hospital. The child was restrained in a child seat and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Amanda Janeway was taken by ambulance to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with serious injuries. A three-year-old child in Janeway's car was also taken to Lafayette with non-life-threatening injuries. The child was also restrained in a car seat.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage were towed from the scene.

Responders included deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office, the Walton Fire Department, Logansport Fire Department, Cass County Fire District #1, Indiana State police and Cass County Emergency Medical Service.

The roadway was closed for approximately one and a half hours for an investigation by crash reconstructionists and crash clean up.
