Boy Wounded In Accidental Shooting In Santa Monica

An accidental shot landed a juvenile boy in the hospital Monday with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

SANTA MONICA, CA — An accidental shot landed a juvenile boy in the hospital Monday in Santa Monica with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, but authorities said there was no danger to the community.

According to Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson Myesha Morrison, it is unclear how the boy obtained the firearm, but according to SMPD it accidentally went off and shot him in the hand.

Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics responded to the incident in the 800 block of Second Street at about 2:20 p.m. and transported the person to a local hospital where they are recovering, Morrison said.
