FBI Computer Forensic Lab Comes to Romeoville

Romeoville and the Chicago FBI Regional Computer Forensic Lab have reached an agreement to establish a satellite lab inside the station.

The Village of Romeoville and the Chicago FBI Regional Computer Forensic Lab (RCFL) have reached an agreement to establish a satellite lab inside the Romeoville Police Station. Among other things, this lab will perform various types of forensic examinations of cell phones, computers, and related technologies. The space will be provided at no charge to the RCFL and in return, Romeoville Police personnel would be given access to the facilities and technologies available in the satellite office, providing enhanced forensic investigation capabilities at no direct financial cost to the Village.

“Partnering with the FBI is a tremendous honor for our police department as well as a tremendous asset,” said Mayor John Noak. “In exchange for some space, our officers will have access to FBI caliber tools and technologies. This is a great deal for all parties involved.”

The Romeoville Police Department expects the satellite lab to be open by mid-May.
