The Maui Police Department has some creative ideas to recruit and retain workers.

KAHULUI, Hawaii (KITV4) -- The Maui Police Department has some creative ideas to recruit and retain workers. It's all outlined it the Department's new strategic plan for fiscal years 2023 to 2028.

Chief of Police John Pelletier addressed ways to also overhaul the department operations, internal communication, and community relations. The Department has over 100 vacancies for "sworn" positions - that's about a quarter of its "sworn" work force.
