Séka Hills will be holding its Father’s Day at the Mill event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday, June 18 at 19326 County Road 78 in Brooks.

“Spend Father’s Day at Séka Hills,” the event’s website stated. “Enjoy live music from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and complimentary wine tasting and beef jerky samples for dad.”

The business’ tasting rooms will offer a 35% off deal on mixed cases during the event.

“From wine and olive oil to balsamic vinegar, mix and match any of your favorite bottles to stock up and save,” the website added.

“You can imagine my surprise when I saw James Bond making burgers in the park,” the event’s website said. “I guess he had a license to grill.”

Drake’s: The Barn will be hosting its Barnival event Saturday at 985 Riverfront St. in West Sacramento.

“We’re hosting a deliciously imaginative weekend of food and beverage specials from June 9 to June 11,” the event’s website stated. “Then on Saturday, June 10, Barnival comes to life with carnival attractions hosted by The Culture Element.”

The event will feature carnival games, activities, stilt walkers, entertainers, a petting zoo and more.

Woodland’s Blue Note Brewing will be celebrating its 8-year anniversary next Saturday, June 17 at 750 Dead Cat Alley.

The 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. event welcomes is free to attend for all ages and is dog friendly, according to the event’s website.

West Sacramento’s Center for Spiritual Awareness will be holding a “curated and immersive” Juneteenth event intended to engage, educate and uplift attendees with a theme of “joy, resilience and celebration.”

“Juneteenth honors the emancipation of enslaved African Americans,” the event’s website emphasized. “Juneteenth celebrates a pivotal moment in the abolishment of slavery in the United States.”

The holiday was first celebrated in Texas in the aftermath of the Civil War after enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, according to the website.

“Juneteenth continues to be celebrated as a pivotal moment in ending slavery in the U.S. and is an opportunity to highlight the ongoing fight for justice and equality,” the website highlighted.

The event will feature,

  • Black-owned vendors selling African wares including clothing, jewelry and home goods.
  • Information booths hosted by organizations serving  Sacramento’s Black community.
  • A program of music and spoken word performed by CSA’s community.
  • Videos on the importance of racial healing.
  • Education on why Juneteenth is a holiday of great significance and conversations on where to go from here.

The center describes itself as a “diverse and caring community in which we share spiritual nourishment and celebrate all paths of God through the principles of science of mind.”
