News Anchor


Eric Johnson is a long-time news anchor at KOMO-Television in Seattle.

He currently anchors the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts at KOMO-TV, as well as producing his award winning weekly stories, “Eric’s Heroes.”

Eric first came to KOMO News in 1993 as a weekend sportscaster. Prior to that he worked at KBCI and KTVB in Boise, then KREM in Spokane and KGW in Portland, Ore.

He has won upwards of 50 regional Emmy Awards, and six National Edward R. Murrow Awards. He has also produced a number of award-winning documentaries, including the groundbreaking “Seattle is Dying,” which has been watched more than 20 million times.

Eric was raised in the Spokane Valley (East Valley High School), and majored in broadcasting in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications at Washington State University. He played baseball at WSU (he says with very limited success).
