It was "followed by the suspect’s aggressive actions which precipitated an officer-involved shooting," the police statement said.

Police immediately called for medical aid and the Burbank Fire Department took the man to Providence Holy Cross Trauma Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, the statement said.

The officers were not injured during the shooting.

The man's identity was being withheld pending identification by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
