San Pedro High celebrates graduation and honors for 609 students

200 scholarships handed out to 2023 class members and 17 students completed the dual enrollment program completing their first two years of college.

San Pedro High held its 2023 graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 8, at Flagship Stadium on the high school campus at 1001 W. 15th St., San Pedro.

The event celebrated the advancement of 609 graduates.

The graduating class included:

• 85 students who received a 4.0 grade point average

• 174 Superintendent Award recipients with a 3.8 grade point average or higher including top math and English grades

• 30 students who passed three or more AP (Advanced Placement) exams

• 198 California Scholarship Federation Society (the oldest honor society in the state of California) Gold Seal Bearers

• 61 students who earned the Seal of Bi-literacy award for fluency in at least two languages

• 20 National Honor Society Award recipients for community service and academic achievement

There were 200 scholarships handed out to members of the Class of 2023, and 17 students in the dual enrollment program have already completed their first two years of college.

In sports, the class also won three city titles (Girls Volleyball, Girls Basketball and Boys Swim); eight Marine League championships; and 16 graduates who will go on to compete at the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) level.
