Dump Truck Overturns In De Luz, Driver Suffers 'Serious' Injuries
CHP and Cal Fire arrived to aid the driver of an overturned dump truck Wednesday morning. Here's why roads were closed for hours.
TEMECULA, CA — A dump truck careened down a steep De Luz hill and into an embankment early Wednesday, California Highway Patrol officers say. The dump truck driver suffered "serious injuries" and was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment, Cal Fire spokesperson Tawny Castro said.
As of 1:30 p.m. a road closure remained in place Via Volcano at Rancho California Road and Los Gatos Road, just west of Carancho Road, according to CHP.
Shortly before 9 a.m., emergency responders arrived to find the overturned 2006 Peterbilt in the unincorporated area of Los Gatos Road and Carancho Road. The full dump truck, loaded with sand and gravel, was "on its side and leaking oil and gas," according to the CHP.
