Wizard Class Build and Paragon Guide
Wizards are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. They can easily decimate a large number of enemies with their spells in just a blink of an eye. This has its own drawbacks, of course. One of the Wizard's drawbacks is that it might not be too welcoming for new players.
Aside from a certain level of difficulty using this class, the Wizard is also very squishy and has a low HP pool. But if the Wizard is played correctly or if you have friends that can tank the damage for you in dungeons, it's a very powerful class.

Wizard Overview
The Wizard has always been a staple of the Diablo franchise. WIth that being said, the Wizards in Diablo: Immortal is nothing to scoff at. Yes, you can die easily if you don't position yourself well. But the firepower it gives just makes it all worth it.
This class also has some combo potential if you're into that. Skills like Black Hole and Meteor can combo as well as Meteor and Scorch. But the MVP Skill goes to Teleport. Without this skill, it will be hell to reposition yourself in the chaotic battlefield that's prevalent in Diablo.
Arcane Wind Build, Legendary Equipment, and Gems
This build relies on the fire left by Scorch and Meteor to combo into Arcane Wind which can produce a Firestorm effect. The skill build for this one is:
- Scorch
- Arcane Wind
- Meteor
- Teleport
Teleport is a flexible skill which means that you can switch it out for another skill if you want. However, we do not suggest a skill build without a mobility option. Thus, you almost always want Teleport in your skill builds no matter what that build is.
Arcane Wind Build Legendary Equipment
This build is heavily reliant on the legendary equipment you have. The build will still work but it's going to be sub-optimal unless you have these two legendary equipment: Starcaller's Breeches and Devastation.
Equipment Slot | Name | Effect |
---|---|---|
Head | Any | - |
Chest | Starcaller's Drapery | Meteor radius increased by 20% |
Arms | Shoulders of the Cataclysm | Meteor damage increased by 10% |
Legs | Starcaller's Breeches | Meteor now continually damages enemies in an area, but no longer stuns. |
Main Hand | Devastation | Arcane Wind now summons a tornado that damages enemies in a line, and no longer charges up. Increases Arcane Wind's maximum charges to 2. |
Off Hand | Unrepentant Gale | Maximum Arcane Wind charges increased by 1. |
Other Suggestions | ||
Arms | Phoenix Mantle | Scorch radius increased by 20% |
Arcane Wind Build Gems
If you're playing as a Free-To-Play player, the gem you want to get your hands on is going to be Power & Command. This by far provides a significant damage boost than the other lower-ranked gems in this list.
Legendary Gem | Effect |
---|---|
Berserker's Eye | Increases the damage you deal but also increases the damage you take. Also increases your critical hit chance at later ranks. |
Chained Death | Increases the damage you deal per target hit. This passive has a maximum cap. |
Bloody Reach | Increases the damage you deal based on how far you are from the enemy. Has the chance to decrease enemy attack and movement speeds at later ranks. |
Power & Command | Power and Command alternates states every certain number of seconds. Power increases your primary attack damage, while command increases your other skill damage. Has a chance to dispel a debuff on you each time power and command alternates at later ranks. |
Howler's Call | Your primary attack has a chance to summon a charging spirit wolf that deals damage to all enemies in its path. This passive has a cooldown. The wolf will have a chance to stun enemies at later ranks. |
Blood-Soaked Jade | Increases the damage you deal and your movement speed. The bonus damage this passive provides lessens as your HP goes down. At later ranks, you take decreased damage while below a certain percentage of health. |
Other Suggestions | |
The Hunger | Heals you each time you defeat an enemy. This passive has a cooldown. Increases your attack speed after defeating an enemy at later ranks. |
Ice Crystal Build, Legendary Equipment, and Gems
This one is a little bit more accessible than the Arcane Wind build. Unlike that build, this one doesn't rely much on your equipment and you can usually just set up your skills like below and you should be fine.
- Ice Crystal
- Ray of Frost/Disintegrate
- Lightning Nova/Something Else
- Teleport
As you might see, this skill build is a little bit more flexible than the other one. The staple skills for this build are Ice Crystal and Ray of Frost or Disintegrate. Having both Ray of Frost or Disintegrate is going to be very redundant so only choose one or the other. If you're having trouble choosing, check on your legendary equipment and see which one will benefit your skills more. Aside from that, lightning nova is a flexible skill which means that you can swap it out for some other skill you want.
Ice Crystal Build Legendary Equipment
The Ice Crystal build, just as mentioned above, is not as equipment-intensive as the Arcane Wind build. This means that it's more lenient as to what kind of items you wear.
Equipment Slot | Name | Effect |
---|---|---|
Head | Any | - |
Chest | Frostreaver's Garments | Ice Crystal now summons a freezing crystal that inflicts greater damage over time and a stacking Chill. |
Arms | Searing Judgment | Disintegrate now channels Fire. Burning enemies for additional damage over time. |
Legs | Chaos Nexus | Disintegrate channels additional beams at nearby enemies. |
Main Hand | Entropic Edge | Disintegrate damage increased. |
Off Hand | Any | - |
Other Suggestions | ||
Head | Cryomancer's Helm | Ray of Frost range increased. |
Legs | Crystal Guards | Ice Crystal cooldown decreased. |
Ice Crystal Build Gems
In this build, you mostly want to have Pain of Subjugation, Trickshot Gem, and Fervent Fang covered. They're the Free-To-Play gems for this build and you can easily craft them in Westmarch.
Legendary Gem | Effect |
---|---|
Pain of Subjugation | You deal increased damage to enemies suffering loss of control. Decreases all damage you take while suffering loss of control of your character at later ranks. |
Trickshot Gem | Your channeled skills consume energy slower. Decreases all damage you take while you're using a channel skill at later ranks. |
Bloody Reach | Increases the damage you deal based on how far you are from the enemy. Has the chance to decrease enemy attack and movement speeds at later ranks. |
Fervent Fang | Each time you deal damage to an enemy, that enemy now takes additional damage from your attacks. This passive has a cap. All damage you deal to Elite monsters is increased at later ranks. |
Zwenson's Haunting | When you defeat an enemy, summon a dark beast to attack nearby enemies, dealing damage to all nearby enemies. This passive has a cooldown. Gain a chance to summon a dark dragon after using a skill against an enemy that causes loss of control at later ranks. |
Seeping Bile | Your attacks can now poison enemies. This poison spreads to nearby enemies if the victim dies. Cannot affect the same target more often than once in a set amount of time. |
Wizard Paragon Tree Tips
Paragons are only unlocked after reaching the maximum level, 60. Each paragon tree has a set of permanent attribute bonuses and specialization skills. Specialization Skills only activate when the tree it's in is also activated. This means that you can only have one set of specialization skills active at once. However, attribute bonuses from trees add up so you can get additional attribute bonuses from other trees.
Generally, Vanquisher and Survivor are two of the trees that will help you a lot and the rest of the trees are going to be more on the specialized side. For the Wizard, if you're determined to be the glass canon, you'd go for the Vanquisher tree and activate it. Make sure to get some survivability attributes such as Armor and Life from other trees, though.
Soldier is another Paragon Tree that can be helpful for the Wizard but it takes some of the offensive specializations skills away from it and will only become helpful if you're really struggling to survive doing high-end content. Gladiator is more focused on PvP and can be really helpful when you're more focused into that end-game content.
Remember that you can reset your Paragon Skills every week so we highly encourage you to play around with your Paragon Skills and see which one fits you the most.
