FRIDAY

Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry) invites you to come up to the lab and see what's on the slab when "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" screens Friday at the Orpheum.

It's time to "give yourself over to absolute pleasure" (in the words of Dr. Frank-N-Furter), as the ultimate cross-dressing sci-fi song-and-dance audience-participation cult classic, 1975's "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," temporarily exits the cozy confines of Midtown's Evergreen Theatre for its annual presentation at Downtown's historic movie palace, the Orpheum. Doors open at 7 p.m. for pre-movie fun, including a "Rocky" costume contest and a photo booth. A limited number of bags containing Orpheum-approved audience-participation props will be on sale for $5 each, so get there early because, according Orpheum publicists, "they go faster than Eddie’s motorcycle." The screening marks the end of this year's Orpheum Summer Movie Series.

8 p.m., 203 S. Main. Tickets: $8 (adult), $6 (12 and under). Visit orpheum-memphis.com.

Funnymen Joe Torry and London Brown will make a weekend stand at Chuckles Comedy House. Torry — best known for his work as the host of HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” — and “Ballers” star Brown will be doing stand-up sets at the Cordova nightclub, with two shows nightly (at 7:30 and 10) on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $27.50 for general admission and $45 for VIP reserve. To purchase, go to chucklescomedyhouse.com

Chuckles is at 1770 Dexter Springs Loop in Cordova.

Rapper, producer and Cash Money Records veteran Mannie Fresh is coming to the Mid-South. The Big Tymers member and current Def Jam South artist will be headlining a concert Friday night at the Fitz Casino in Tunica. Showtime is 10 p.m. Tickets are $19.50 and available at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or (800) 745-3000.

Fitz Casino is at 711 Lucky Lane.

SATURDAY

The Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) this weekend ends his monthlong run at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum with movie screenings and a scavenger hunt.

Wakanda forever! We endorse that sentiment, but let's hope the "Wakanda Weekend Scavenger Hunt" at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum doesn't last quite that long. Intended for kids of all ages, the scavenger hunt will lead participants on a quest throughout the museum's galleries, in recognition of this weekend's screenings of the hit movie "Black Panther" on the museum's giant screen. Costumes are encouraged, and superhero mask-making activities will be part of the fun, along with plenty of for-sale merchandise provided by 901 Comics.

Scavenger hunt: 2 p.m., Memphis Pink Palace Museum, 3050 Central Ave. "Black Panther" movie: 4 p.m. (also 4 p.m. Sunday), CTI 3D Giant Theater, Pink Palace. Call 901-636-2362 or visit memphismuseums.org.

MONDAY

Jazz and big band fans will have the chance to enjoy the Memphis Jazz Orchestra this week. The 26-year old group — which has backed jazz greats from Ray Charles to Herb Ellis — will swing at Overton Square’s Lafayette’s Music Room. The evening concert starts at 6 p.m. For more information, go to lafayettes.com/memphis

Lafayette’s is at 2119 Madison Ave.

WEDNESDAY

Presented by Indie Memphis and the African-American arts group known as The Collective, "The Other Side of Broad" is a short documentary from local filmmaker Lawrence Matthews that examines the problematic impact of the so-called reforms at Lester Middle School and East High School that, in some cases, have proved excessively burdensome for students and teachers. A panel discussion will follow the screening of what promises to be a provocative documentary.

7 p.m., Caritas Village, 2509 Harvard. Admission: free. Visit indiememphis.com.

THURSDAY

Daisyland presents a performance by dubstep DJ/producer Rusko at the New Daisy on Thursday. The lineup will also feature sets by Juju Beats, Z-Dougie performing back to back with Finn, and Gutta Chick. Tickets for this 18 and older show are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. They’re available at newdaisy.com. Doors open at 9 p.m.

The New Daisy is at 330 Beale St.

Has it really been ten years since Robert Downey Jr. redefined the screen superhero in "Iron Man"? The film that launched the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" makes its Memphis IMAX premiere Thursday.

True Believers, take note: In recognition of the first decade of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe," all 20 movies in the comic book-inspired superhero saga will screen over eight days in the IMAX auditorium at the Malco Paradiso. Billed as the "Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Film Festival," the event launches Thursday with the first four films in the series, "Iron Man" (1 p.m.), "The Incredible Hulk" (3:40 p.m.), "Iron Man 2" (7 p.m.) and "Thor" (9:35 p.m.), all making their Memphis IMAX debuts (as are most of the movies in the series). The festival ends Sept. 6.

Regular ticket prices apply. Visit malco.com.
