Why the Boston Celtics do it

Talen Horton-Tucker is big, physical, rugged, and can add a new dynamic to the Boston Celtics bench. While Payton Pritchard has the capabilities of imposing his will on offense, and Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams are two sturdy forwards, Horton-Tucker brings the Pritchard attitude to a bulky traditional power forward physique.

The former Big-12 all-conference freshman can add more moxie to a Boston bench that is establishing its identity in 2020-21.

Why the Los Angeles Lakers do it

DeMarcus Cousins was a member of the Lakers roster last season before he was cut to make room for Markieff Morris. Interestingly enough, the two got into it the other night when Los Angeles and Houston squared off.

That’d be some introduction to the locker-room for Cousins.

Danuel House can replace the 3-point shooting and rebounding of Horton-Tucker, while also providing elite defense to a championship culture.

Why the Houston Rockets do it

It appears that the James Harden-John Wall pairing isn’t going to produce a championship, so Houston should brace for Harden’s departure, which has seemed imminent all season.

Grabbing a pair of future picks while taking on an expiring contract for a player that can at least work well with Harden as a screener and dribble-handoff passing big man is prudent. The Rockets are capable of prudence even if they don’t always display it.
