A Portsmouth man was charged Tuesday with 16 counts of distribution of child pornography, according to a news release from the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officers from the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office and Portsmouth and Virginia Beach police departments executed a search warrant at a home in the 2100 block of Halifax Avenue. Investigators with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office use unspecified databases to look for people distributing child pornography.

A 42-year-old man, Brad J. Roberts, was arrested and taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said Roberts is a worker for the vendor that provides food for Tidewater Community College campuses.

The State Police’s online sex offender registry says Roberts was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 1997 in Louisana.
