1 dead, multiple injuries in North Carolina church shooting

A shooting outside a church in North Carolina left one person dead and multiple injuries, according to police.

Gunfire was reported outside of Living Water Baptist Church in High Point, about 15 miles southwest of Greensboro, on Sunday around 3:30 p.m., according to the Charlotte Observer.

“Upon arrival on the scene, officers located one deceased Black male,” the High Point Police Department said in a release. “Officers also located a few other victims suffering from minor injuries.”

Police have not said whether the shooting occurred during a church event as their investigation remains active with multiple searches and interviews to be conducted still.

“For those reasons, no additional information will be released at this time related to this incident, which includes any victim/suspect information and details specific to the active investigation,” the release said.

“High Point Police Department remains diligent and focused on identifying those persons involved in criminal activity in High Point and holding them and their associates responsible for their actions,” the release added.

The department added that anyone with information that leads to arrests could be eligible for a cash reward through its Crime Stoppers hotline at 336-889-4000.
