Alice Marie Paulius

Alice Marie Paulius, age 83, of Midland, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. She was born and raised in Chicago on January 25, 1936, the daughter of the late Jeremiah Robert and Mary Theresa (nee Krug) Egan. Alice was a graduate of Calumet High School Class of 1954 and a member of the Chippewa’s. She lived in Burbank, IL for over 30 years where she raised her family and was an active member of the community including assisting with the incorporation of Burbank and choosing the city's seal/emblem. In 1994, Alice relocated to Midland, MI to finish her career years as a Senior Housing Marketing Director with Trailblazer Village and Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage Memory Care followed by enjoying 15 years of retirement. She was an active member of the Schussmeisters Ski Club of Flint Michigan where she organized ski trips and established many of her dearest friendships.

A faithful servant of Christ, Alice participated in Bible Study Fellowship and was a Stephen’s Minister at Midland Evangelical Free Church. Alice was also a volunteer at Royal Family Kid’s Camp where she delighted in teaching children to sew pajamas.

A founding member of the Paulius, Lipinski, Callahan Leukemia Research Chapter, Alice was instrumental in raising millions of dollars to find a cure for childhood leukemia in memory of her daughter Maria. Her numerous contributions to the chapter which included planning professional choreographed fashion shows, raised the bar for dynamic and entertaining fundraising events.

Alice is survived by her children, John (Jan) Paulius III of Westchester, IL, Susan (Michael) Soltis of Plainfield, IL, Christina (Carlos) Paulius Morales of Byron Center, MI and Joseph (Cynthia) Zabransky of Oak Lawn, IL; grandchildren, Lauren Paulius, Christina (Kevin) McSorley, Katie (Darek) Rusnarczyk, Samantha Soltis, Christopher Paulius Morales, Brooks Morales, Susanna Morales, Matthew (Claire) Zabransky and Sara Zabransky; great grandchildren, Brooklyn McSorley and Savannah McSorley; one brother, Robert J. Egan of AZ; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Paulius, Jr.; daughter, Maria; her parents; and cherished friend, Geri Janssen.

Visitation for Alice M. Paulius will be Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. All relatives and friends and invited to meet directly at Three Rivers Church, 23901 W. Rolf Rd., Plainfield on Sunday, November 17, 2019, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Private Inurnment will be at St. Casimir Cemetery in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Leukemia Research Foundation or the Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
