The Taste of Knott’s menu will offer 40-plus food and drink items at more than two dozen booths spread throughout Knott’s Berry Farm while rides and shows remain shuttered at the Buena Park theme park during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Taste of Knott’s craft beer and food event will run on 13 select dates Aug. 21 through Sept. 13 at the Buena Park theme park.

The Taste of Knott’s takes the concept of the sold-out Taste of Calico that ran July 17 through Aug. 9 and expands on the menu and the footprint of the event.

The Taste of Calico essentially recreated the canceled Knott’s Boysenberry Festival as a private ticketed event in the Ghost Town area of the park while Knott’s rides and attractions remained closed indefinitely. The Taste of Knott’s keeps the Boysenberry-centric menu in Calico Ghost Town and adds barbecue favorites and Mexican dishes in the Boardwalk and Fiesta Village areas of the park.

The biggest problem on opening day at the Taste of Calico were long lines that stretched throughout the park — due to the popularity of select food items and social distancing protocols.

Knott’s appears to have addressed that issue with the latest incarnation of the food, beer and wine event. The Taste of Knott’s makes many of the most popular menu items available at multiple locations — which should help shorten the queues considerably.

You can get a Louisiana-style pork and sausage sandwich and boysenberry buttered corn on the cob at Fireman’s BBQ and the Charleston Circle booth. Both the homestyle and Hatch chili versions of Knott’s mac and cheese can be found at the Wilderness Dance Hall patio and the Boardwalk Pier booth.

Tater tots topped with BBQ marinated pulled pork or a vegan version with faux BBQ pulled “pork” jackfruit can be found at Sutter’s Grill or Calico Fry Co. White bean and chicken chili will be served at both the Judge Roy Bean and Boardwalk Pier booths. Boysenberry chicken tenders on a fire honey waffle are available at the Coaster Diner and the Spurs booth.

For dessert, funnel cake fries, boysenberry pie bites and strawberry rhubarb crisp are available at Ghost Town Grub, Sutter’s Funnel Cake and Log Ride Funnel Cake. The Blue Velvet ice cream cookiewich can be found at either Chowhouse Ice Cream or the Dippin’ Dots stand.

Drinks will be more spread out as well. Beer, wine, sangria and cider will be served at the Calico Saloon, Wilderness Dance Hall patio, Judge Roy Bean booth and Boardwalk BBQ booth #1. Lemonade can be found at five stands and boysenberry smoothies at three locations.

Other popular menu items such as boysenberry meatballs (Wagon Wheel Pizza), Mrs. Knott’s chicken slider (Wilderness Broiler) and smoked brisket sandwich (Boardwalk BBQ booth #1) will only be available at a single location — likely making for longer lines.

Similarly, expect the lines to be longer in Fiesta Village where Mexican food items like shrimp tacos, chicken mole and carnitas fries will only be available at individual locations.
