Canvas Credit Union will host a blood drive this week in Windsor.

The blood drive runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Canvas Credit Union, 1675 Main St. Canvas Credit Union, Children’s Hospital Colorado and UCHealth have partnered to host the Windsor blood drive, as well as blood drives across the state.

“We are constantly in awe of the work Children’s Colorado does to support the health of children, who are the future of our communities,” said Todd Marksberry, president and CEO at Canvas Credit Union, in a news release. “Canvas is proud to participate in any event that uplifts the mission of Children’s Colorado, and it is a true privilege to see our members and employees gather to selflessly donate during these blood drives.”

Blood is critical to saving a life or providing care in an emergency or life-threatening situation. Blood drives serve an important role in collecting a vast amount of blood for hospitals.

More than 10,000 units of blood products are needed annually at Children’s Colorado Hospital, per the release. Blood drives like this series collect 98% of the 10,000 units of blood products used at Children’s Hospital.

Last year, Canvas Credit Union announced a $2 million gift to Children’s Hospital that provided a new fleet of bloodmobiles that allowed blood drives to take place in a 100-mile radius across the state.
