The Stetson basketball team is one win away from bursting into March Madness for the first time in its history.

The Hatters first have to beat Austin Peay in the Atlantic Sun Conference championship game. If they win on their home court, Stetson will make its first NCAA Tournament since the program rose to Division I in 1971.

In his fifth season, coach Donnie Jones led the Hatters (21-12, 11-5 in ASUN) to the No. 2 seed in the conference and a 12-2 record in DeLand. Stetson defeated Queens 83-71 in the quarterfinals, then beat Jacksonville 88-87 thanks to a 3-pointer from Stephan Swenson with just over 4 seconds left. Junior guard Jalen Blackmon, one of the nation's leading scorers at 20.8 points per game, was held to 12 points on 2-for-12 shooting.

Austin Peay (19-14, 10-6) came into the ASUN Tournament as the No. 4 seed under first-year coach Corey Gipson. The Governors beat North Florida 101-98 in overtime before besting North Alabama 77-71 to make their first ASUN final. Austin Peay is led by guard DeMarcus Sharp's 17.2 ppg.

Stetson won the teams' first meeting this season, an 83-82 thriller January 25 at the Edmunds Center. Blackmon sank a pair of free throws to put the Hatters on top with less than 3 seconds left.
