Peter Richard Avalos OBITUARY

Peter Richard Avalos aka Mike, Born 6/29/32 entered into rest 3/3/24. Mike was born the only child to Jesus and Herminia Avalos at home in Burbank, Ca. His mother would pass away 2 years after his birth and was then raised by his grandparents.He moved to Hayward, Ca, with his grandparents, Aunt Carol and cousin John. He attended Hayward schools where he met a friend for life, Manuel Molina. He ran track in high school and enjoyed Printing class. He dated his friend Rudy’s younger sister, Seffie Tagle. After graduating high school in 1951 he joined the Marines and fought for his country in the Korean war. He asked Seffie to wait for him, and she did. They were married July 31, 1954, and resided in San Leandro, Ca.Mike took Printing classes at Laney College which lead to the beginning of a life long career as a Printer. He and Seffie would move with their 4 children to Newark, Ca, in 1966 and resided there until 2022.Mike enjoyed slow pitch softball, bowling, and fishing. He enjoyed taking his family camping and to Disneyland.Mike was a CCD teacher, Lector and long time member of St. Edwards Catholic church in Newark. He was also an active member of the Moose Lodge.Mike is survived in death by his wife of 69 years, Seffie, daughters, Theresa (James) Jones, Julie (Dennis) Allen, sons Michael Avalos, Marce (Donna) Avalos. Seven grand children, 4 great grand children.Celebration of life to follow next few months.
