David R. Monty OBITUARY

DracutDavid R. Monty, 70, a recent resident of Dracut, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. He endured many long-term illnesses until diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, waging a final courageous battle. He was born in Miami Beach, FL, before his parents moved to Dracut where he spent his youth, graduating from DHS in 1971. David thrived living up in Wells River, VT where he honed his love of skiing eventually becoming a certified National Ski Patrol member, a status he maintained until his passing. In due course he settled in Windham, NH for many years. He was a Jack of All Trades, mastering all, his natural abilities allowed him to acquire many skills, rounding out his career with Malfatti Home Improvements. David was a man without limits, and because he enjoyed intense activities such as skiing Tuckerman Ravine, extreme rollerblading, ice climbing, and mountain biking he always had a great story to share. We’re not all sunshine and roses, which David proved true – stubborn to a fault – what he knew, he knew. In the last months of his life he finally understood it’s a gift to say and mean the words ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘thank you’.We love you David, you had a soft spot for anyone in need and helped many people you never knew. A favorite selfless act was to fix old bicycles and give them to kids that had none. He always said, ‘A bicycle is freedom and every kid should have one’.David leaves behind daughter Stacey Monty, her family, son Justin Monty, his family; sisters Karen Clougher, her husband Thomas of Tyngsboro, MA, and Nancy Wilson, her husband Gary of New Ipswich, NH; nieces and nephews Victoria Clougher of Stamford, CT, Kimberly McManus of Laconia, NH, Douglas Clougher of Hudson, NH, Kenneth and Zachary Clougher of Dracut, MA, Evan Boucher of Townsend, MA, and Christopher McManus of Aurora, CO; several cousins, and many friends.
