Pickup Collision Near Wilbur Road Resulted in Serious Injuries

OROVILLE, CA (February 8, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a two-vehicle accident on State Route 162 sent one person to a hospital. 

The collision occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. along SR-162 and Wilbur Road, just west of Oroville Municipal Airport.

According to CHP, a Ford pickup attempted to cross the freeway from Wilbur but failed to notice an oncoming vehicle.

As a result, the Ford collided with a Chevrolet pickup traveling in an easterly direction.

Emergency medical personnel utilized hydraulic-powered tools to extricate the Chevy driver from the vehicle. Subsequently, they were transported to Enloe Medical Center for the treatment of major injuries.

It remains unclear if the Ford driver sustained injuries from the collision. At this time, authorities do not suspect the involvement of drugs and alcohol in the incident. Individuals with further information are encouraged to contact local authorities.

Oroville officials continue to investigate the State Route 162 two-vehicle accident.
