Seattle saw a wintry mix of rain and snow flurries as it moved into the first week in March — but not enough for any snow day activities in the city.

Some snow fell with the rain Sunday morning, but it never accumulated beyond a few flakes on the grass, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Harrison Rademacher. And those few flakes quickly melted, with temperatures rising into the 40s.

The Olympics and the Cascades saw more activity, particularly around Mount Baker, Rademacher said. Starting Sunday afternoon through Monday, the National Weather Service of Seattle issued a winter weather advisory for eastern Whatcom and Skagit counties.

The mixed precipitation is expected to continue into Monday, with heavier snow expected in the North Cascades and another rainy day predicted for Seattle.

The forecast showed temperatures dropping into the mid-30s Sunday evening, before creeping up to a high of 45 degrees on Monday.

The region should dry up a little by the middle of the week, and Rademacher said the weather will get warmer, with highs in the 50s by Friday.
