Fort Oglethorpe holds first plant sale

FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF) – Garden enthusiasts in Fort Oglethorpe got to spring forward a little early on Friday.

The city held its first ever plant sale in its greenhouse, which used to be attached to city hall, where various plants were on display.

This sale is part of an initiative called Let’s Grow Fort O, which looks to revitalize the greenhouse which has been neglected since the Covid-19 pandemic.

They hope this sale kicks off new interest in the greenhouse as they look to grow the new gardening club.

Taylor Hutwagner, the Events Directors for the city of Fort Oglethorpe, said, “We’re a small group of people right now, kind of kicking the club off but eventually we’re going to open it up to some members and maybe even designate some spaces in here for other people to grow, but you know it is open to the public, so if you want to come see it you can hit me up and call me and I’d be happy to let you in and show you around.”

Hutwagner says they hope to do multiple plant sales throughout the year.
