El Segundo Mexican Kitchen, the first full-fledged push by Cameron Mitchell Restaurants into Mexican dining, will close on Sunday.

"Our journey together at El Segundo Mexican Kitchen has come to an end," the restaurant announced Thursday on its social media pages.

El Segundo opened in September 2021 at 698 N. High St. in the Short North. It replaced another Mitchell restaurant, Harvey & Ed's Delicatessen, which had been open just 16 months in 2018 and 2019.

Everything from the food to the decor at El Segundo was inspired by research trips to Mexico, the restaurant's first executive chef told The Dispatch when it opened. El Segundo bragged about offering 125 brands of tequila, too.
